1 In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried.
1 첫째 달에 이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 신 광야에 이르러 백성이 가데스에 이르더니 미리암이 거기서 죽으매 거기에 장사되니라
1. 正月間，以色列全會衆到了尋的曠野，就住在加低斯。米利暗死在那裏，就葬在那裏。
2 Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.
2 회중이 물이 없으므로 모세와 아론에게로 모여드니라
2. 會衆沒有水喝，就聚集攻擊摩西、亞倫。
3 They quarreled with Moses and said, "If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the LORD!
3 백성이 모세와 다투어 말하여 이르되 우리 형제들이 여호와 앞에서 죽을 때에 우리도 죽었더라면 좋을 뻔하였도다
3. 百姓向摩西爭鬧說：我們的弟兄曾死在耶和華面前，我們恨不得與他們同死。
4 Why did you bring the LORD'S community into this desert, that we and our livestock should die here?
4 너희가 어찌하여 여호와의 회중을 이 광야로 인도하여 우리와 우리 짐승이 다 여기서 죽게 하느냐
4. 你們爲何把耶和華的會衆領到這曠野、使我們和牲畜都死在這裏呢？
5 Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!"
5 너희가 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 나오게 하여 이 나쁜 곳으로 인도하였느냐 이 곳에는 파종할 곳이 없고 무화과도 없고 포도도 없고 석류도 없고 마실 물도 없도다
5. 你們爲何逼著我們出埃及、領我們到這壞地方呢？這地方不好撒種，也沒有無花果樹、葡萄樹、石榴樹，又沒有喝。
6 Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
6 모세와 아론이 회중 앞을 떠나 회막 문에 이르러 엎드리매 여호와의 영광이 그들에게 나타나며
6. 摩西、亞倫離開會衆，到會幕門口，俯伏在地；耶和華的榮光向他們顯現。
7 The LORD said to Moses,
7 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되
7. 耶和華曉諭摩西說：
8 "Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink."
8 지팡이를 가지고 네 형 아론과 함께 회중을 모으고 그들의 목전에서 너희는 반석에게 명령하여 물을 내라 하라 네가 그 반석이 물을 내게 하여 회중과 그들의 짐승에게 마시게 할지니라
8. 你拿著杖去，和你的哥哥亞倫招聚會衆，在他們眼前吩咐磐石發出水來，水就從磐石流出，給會衆和他們的牲畜。
9 So Moses took the staff from the LORD'S presence, just as he commanded him.
9 모세가 그 명령대로 여호와 앞에서 지팡이를 잡으니라
9. 於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐的，從耶和華面前取了杖去。
10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?"
10 모세와 아론이 회중을 그 반석 앞에 모으고 모세가 그들에게 이르되 반역한 너희여 들으라 우리가 너희를 위하여 이 반석에서 물을 내랴 하고
10. 摩西、亞倫就招聚會衆到磐石前。摩西說：你們這些背叛的人聽我說：我爲你們使水從這磐石中流出來麽？
11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
11 모세가 그의 손을 들어 그의 지팡이로 반석을 두 번 치니 물이 많이 솟아나오므로 회중과 그들의 짐승이 마시니라
11. 摩西擧手，用杖擊打磐石兩下，就有許多水流出來，會衆和他們的牲畜都喝了。
12 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."
12 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 이르시되 너희가 나를 믿지 아니하고 이스라엘 자손의 목전에서 내 거룩함을 나타내지 아니한 고로 너희는 이 회중을 내가 그들에게 준 땅으로 인도하여 들이지 못하리라 하시니라
12. 耶和華對摩西、亞倫說：因爲你們不信我，不在以色列人眼前尊我爲聖，所以你們必不得領這會衆進我所賜給他的地去。
13 These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he showed himself holy among them.
13 이스라엘 자손이 여호와와 다투었으므로 이를 므리바 물이라 하니라 여호와께서 그들 중에서 그 거룩함을 나타내셨더라
13. 這水名叫米利巴水，是因以色列人向耶和華爭鬧，耶和華就在他們面前顯爲聖。（米利巴就是爭鬧的意思）
14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: "This is what your brother Israel says: You know about all the hardships that have come upon us.
14 모세가 가데스에서 에돔 왕에게 사신을 보내며 이르되 당신의 형제 이스라엘의 말에 우리가 당한 모든 고난을 당신도 아시거니와
14. 摩西從加低斯差遣使者去見以東王，說：你的弟兄以色列人這樣說：我們所遭遇的一切艱難，
15 Our forefathers went down into Egypt, and we lived there many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers,
15 우리 조상들이 애굽으로 내려갔으므로 우리가 애굽에 오래 거주하였더니 애굽인이 우리 조상들과 우리를 학대하였으므로
15. 就是我們的列祖下到埃及，我們在埃及久住；埃及人惡待我們的列祖和我們，
16 but when we cried out to the LORD, he heard our cry and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. "Now we are here at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory.
16 우리가 여호와께 부르짖었더니 우리 소리를 들으시고 천사를 보내사 우리를 애굽에서 인하여 내셨나이다 이제 우리가 당신의 변방 모퉁이 한 성읍 가데스에 있사오니
16. 我們哀求耶和華的時候，他聽了我們的聲音，差遣使者把我們從埃及領出來。這事你都知道。如今，我們在你邊上的城加低斯。
17 Please let us pass through your country. We will not go through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the king's highway and not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory."
17 청하건대 우리에게 당신의 땅을 지나가게 하소서 우리가 밭으로나 포도원으로 지나가지 아니하고 우물물도 마시지 아니하고 왕의 큰길로만 지나가고 당신의 지경에서 나가기까지 왼쪽으로나 오른쪽으로나 치우치지 아니하리이다 한다고 하라 하였더니
17. 求你容我們從你的地經過。我們不走田間和葡萄園，也不喝井裏的水，只走大道（原文作王道），不偏左右，直過了你的境界。
18 But Edom answered: "You may not pass through here; if you try, we will march out and attack you with the sword."
18 에돔 왕이 대답하되 너는 우리 가운데로 지나가지 못하리라 내가 칼을 들고 나아가 너를 대적할까 하노라
18. 以東王說：你不可從我的地經過，免得我帶刀出去攻擊你。
19 The Israelites replied: "We will go along the main road, and if we or our livestock drink any of your water, we will pay for it. We only want to pass through on foot--nothing else."
19 이스라엘 자손이 이르되 우리가 큰길로만 지나가겠고 우리나 우리 짐승이 당신의 물을 마시면 그 값을 낼 것이라 우리가 도보로 지나갈 뿐인즉 아무 일도 없으리이다 하나
19. 以色列人說：我們要走大道上去；我們和牲畜若喝你的水，必給你價値。不求別的，只求你容我們步行過去。
20 Again they answered: "You may not pass through." Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.
20 그는 이르되 너는 지나가지 못하리라 하고 에돔 왕이 많은 백성을 거느리고 나와서 강한 손으로 막으니
20. 以東王說：你們不可經過！就率領許多人出來，要用强硬的手攻擊以色列人。
21 Since Edom refused to let them go through their territory, Israel turned away from them.
21 에돔 왕이 이같이 이스라엘이 그의 영토로 지나감을 용납하지 아니하므로 이스라엘이 그들에게서 돌이키니라
21. 這樣，以東王不肯容以色列人從他的境界過去。於是他們轉去，離開他。
22 The whole Israelite community set out from Kadesh and came to Mount Hor.
22 이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 가데스를 떠나 호르 산에 이르렀더니
22. 以色列全會衆從加低斯起行，到了何珥山。
23 At Mount Hor, near the border of Edom, the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
23 여호와께서 에돔 땅 변경 호르 산에서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하시니라 이르시되
23. 耶和華在附近以東邊界的何珥山上曉諭摩西、亞倫說：
24 "Aaron will be gathered to his people. He will not enter the land I give the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah.
24 아론은 그 조상들에게로 돌아가고 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 준 땅에는 들어가지 못하리니 이는 너희가 므리바 물에서 내 말을 거역한 까닭이니라
24. 亞倫要歸到他列祖（原文作本民）那裏。他必不得入我所賜給以色列人的地；因爲在米利巴水，你們違背了我的。
25 Get Aaron and his son Eleazar and take them up Mount Hor.
25 너는 아론과 그의 아들 엘르아살을 데리고 호르 산에 올라
25. 你帶亞倫和他的兒子以利亞撒上何珥山，
26 Remove Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar, for Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will die there."
26 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그의 아들 엘르아살에게 입히라 아론은 거기서 죽어 조상에게로 돌아가리라
26. 把亞倫的聖衣脫下來，給他的兒子以利亞撒穿上；亞倫必死在那裏，歸他列祖。
27 Moses did as the LORD commanded: They went up Mount Hor in the sight of the whole community.
27 모세가 여호와의 명령을 따라 그들과 함께 회중의 목전에서 호르 산에 오르니라
27. 摩西就照耶和華所吩咐的行。三人當著會衆的眼前上了何珥山。
28 Moses removed Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar. And Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain,
28 모세가 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그의 아들 엘르아살에게 입히매 아론이 그 산 꼭대기에서 죽으니라 모세와 엘르아살이 산에서 내려오니
28. 摩西把亞倫的聖衣脫下來，給他的兒子以利亞撒穿上，亞倫就死在山頂那裏。於是摩西和以利亞撒下了山。
29 and when the whole community learned that Aaron had died, the entire house of Israel mourned for him thirty days.
29 온 회중 곧 이스라엘 온 족속이 아론이 죽은 것을 보고 그를 위하여 삼십 일 동안 애곡하였더라
29. 全會衆，就是以色列全家，見亞倫已經死了，便都爲亞倫哀哭了三十天。
