1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
1 그 때에 가이사 아구스도가 영을 내려 천하로 다 호적하라 하였으니
1. 當那些日子，該撒亞古士督有旨意下來，叫天下人民都報名上冊。
2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
2 이 호적은 구레뇨가 수리아 총독 되었을 때에 처음 한 것이라
2. 這是居里扭作敘利亞巡撫的時候，頭一次行報名上冊的事。
3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
3 모든 사람이 호적하러 각각 고향으로 돌아가매
3. 衆人各歸各城，報名上冊。
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
4 요셉도 다윗의 집 족속이므로 갈릴리 나사렛 동네에서 유대를 향하여 베들레헴이라 하는 다윗의 동네로
4. 約瑟也從加利利的拿撒勒城上猶太去，到了大衛的城，名叫伯利恆，因他本是大衛一族一家的人，
5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
5 그 약혼한 마리아와 함께 호적하러 올라가니 마리아가 이미 잉태하였더라
5. 要和他所聘之妻馬利亞一同報名上冊。那時馬利亞的身孕已經重了。
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
6 거기 있을 그 때에 해산할 날이 차서
6. 他們在那裏的時候，馬利亞的産期到了，
7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
7 첫아들을 낳아 강보로 싸서 구유에 뉘었으니 이는 여관에 있을 곳이 없음이러라
7. 就生了頭胎的兒子，用布包起來，放在馬槽裏，因爲客店裏沒有地方。
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
8 그 지역에 목자들이 밤에 밖에서 자기 양 떼를 지키더니
8. 在伯利恆之野地裏有牧羊的人，夜間按著更次看守羊群。
9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
9 주의 사자가 곁에 서고 주의 영광이 그들을 두루 비추매 크게 무서워 하는지라
9. 有主的使者站在他們旁邊，主的榮光四面照著他們；牧羊的人就甚懼怕。
10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
10 천사가 이르되 무서워하지 말라 보라 내가 온 백성에게 미칠 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 너희에게 전하노라
10. 那天使對他們說：不要懼怕！我報給你們大喜的信息，是關乎萬民的；
11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
11 오늘 다윗의 동네에 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨으니 곧 그리스도 주시니라
11. 因今天在大衛的城裏，爲你們生了救主，就是主基督。
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
12 너희가 가서 강보에 싸여 구유에 뉘어 있는 아기를 보리니 이것이 너희에게 표적이니라 하더니
12. 你們要看見一個嬰孩，包著布，臥在馬槽裏，那就是記號了。
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
13 홀연히 수많은 천군이 그 천사들과 함께 하나님을 찬송하여 이르되
13. 忽然，有一大隊天兵同那天使讚美神說：
14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
14 지극히 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요 땅에서는 하나님이 기뻐하신 사람들 중에 평화로다 하니라
14. 在至高之處榮耀歸與神！在地上平安歸與他所喜悅的人（有古卷作：喜悅歸與人）！
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
15 천사들이 떠나 하늘로 올라가니 목자가 서로 말하되 이제 베들레헴으로 가서 주께서 우리에게 알리신 바 이 이루어진 일을 보자 하고
15. 衆天使離開他們，升天去了。牧羊的人彼此說：我們往伯利恆去，看看所成的事，就是主所指示我們的。
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
16 빨리 가서 마리아와 요셉과 구유에 누인 아기를 찾아서
16. 他們急忙去了，就尋見馬利亞和約瑟，又有那嬰孩臥在馬槽裏；
17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,
17 보고 천사가 자기들에게 이 아기에 대하여 말한 것을 전하니
17. 旣然看見，就把天使論這孩子的話傳開了。
18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
18 듣는 자가 다 목자들이 그들에게 말하는 것들을 놀랍게 여기되
18. 凡聽見的，就詫異牧羊之人對他們所說的話。
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
19 마리아는 이 모든 말을 마음에 새기어 생각하니라
19. 馬利亞卻把這一切的事存在心裏，反復思想。
20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
20 목자들은 자기들에게 이르던 바와 같이 듣고 본 그 모든 것으로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 찬송하며 돌아가니라
20. 牧羊的人回去了，因所聽見所看見的一切事，正如天使向他們所說的，就歸榮耀與神，讚美他。
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.
21 할례할 팔 일이 되매 그 이름을 예수라 하니 곧 잉태하기 전에 천사가 일컬은 바러라
21. 滿了八天，就給孩子行割禮，與他起名叫耶穌；這就是沒有成胎以前，天使所起的名。
22 When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
22 모세의 법대로 정결예식의 날이 차매 아기를 데리고 예루살렘에 올라가니
22. 按摩西律法滿了潔淨的日子，他們帶著孩子上耶路撒冷去，要把他獻與主。
23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"),
23 이는 주의 율법에 쓴 바 첫 태에 처음 난 남자마다 주의 거룩한 자라 하리라 한 대로 아기를 주께 드리고
23. （正如主的律法上所記：凡頭生的男子必稱聖歸主；）
24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."
24 또 주의 율법에 말씀하신 대로 산비둘기 한 쌍이나 혹은 어린 집비둘기 둘로 제사하려 함이더라
24. 又要照主的律法上所說，或用一對班鳩，或用兩隻雛鴿獻祭。
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
25 예루살렘에 시므온이라 하는 사람이 있으니 이 사람은 의롭고 경건하여 이스라엘의 위로를 기다리는 자라 성령이 그 위에 계시더라
25. 在耶路撒冷有一個人，名叫西面；這人又公義又虔誠，素常盼望以色列的安慰者來到，又有聖靈在他身上。
26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
26 그가 주의 그리스도를 보기 전에는 죽지 아니하리라 하는 성령의 지시를 받았더니
26. 他得了聖靈的啓示，知道自己未死以前，必看見主所立的基督。
27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,
27 성령의 감동으로 성전에 들어가매 마침 부모가 율법의 관례대로 행하고자 하여 그 아기 예수를 데리고 오는지라
27. 他受了聖靈的感動，進入聖殿，正遇見耶穌的父母抱著孩子進來，要照律法的規矩辦理。
28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
28 시므온이 아기를 안고 하나님을 찬송하여 이르되
28. 西面就用手接過他來，稱頌神說：
29 "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.
29 주재여 이제는 말씀하신 대로 종을 평안히 놓아 주시는도다
29. 主阿！如今可以照你的話，釋放僕人安然去世；
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
30 내 눈이 주의 구원을 보았사오니
30. 因爲我的眼睛已經看見你的救恩─
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
31 이는 만민 앞에 예비하신 것이요
31. 就是你在萬民面前所豫備的：
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
32 이방을 비추는 빛이요 주의 백성 이스라엘의 영광이니이다 하니
32. 是照亮外邦人的光，又是你民以色列的榮耀。
33 The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.
33 그의 부모가 그에 대한 말들을 놀랍게 여기더라
33. 孩子的父母因這論耶穌的話就希奇。
34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
34 시므온이 그들에게 축복하고 그의 어머니 마리아에게 말하여 이르되 보라 이는 이스라엘 중 많은 사람을 패하거나 흥하게 하며 비방을 받는 표적이 되기 위하여 세움을 받았고
34. 西面給他們祝福，又對孩子的母親馬利亞說：這孩子被立，是要叫以色列中許多人跌倒，許多人興起；又要作毁的話柄，叫許多人心裏的意念顯露出來；你自己的心也被刀刺透。
35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
35 또 칼이 네 마음을 찌르듯 하리니 이는 여러 사람의 마음의 생각을 드러내려 함이니라 하더라

36 There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
36 또 아셀 지파 바누엘의 딸 안나라 하는 선지자가 있어 나이가 매우 많았더라 그가 결혼한 후 일곱 해 동안 남편과 함께 살다가
36. 又有女先知，名叫亞拿，是亞設支派法內力的女兒，年紀已經老邁，從作童女出嫁的時候，同丈夫住了七年就寡了，
37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
37 과부가 되고 팔십사 세가 되었더라 이 사람이 성전을 떠나지 아니하고 주야로 금식하며 기도함으로 섬기더니
37. 現在已經八十四歲（或作：就寡居了八十四年），並不離開聖殿，禁食祈求，晝夜事奉神。
38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
38 마침 이 때에 나아와서 하나님께 감사하고 예루살렘의 속량을 바라는 모든 사람에게 그에 대하여 말하니라
38. 正當那時，他進前來稱謝神，將孩子的事對一切盼望耶路撒冷得救贖的人講說。
39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
39 주의 율법을 따라 모든 일을 마치고 갈릴리로 돌아가 본 동네 나사렛에 이르니라
39. 約瑟和馬利亞照主的律法辦完了一切的事，就回加利利，到自己的城拿撒勒去了。
40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
40 아기가 자라며 강하여지고 지혜가 충만하며 하나님의 은혜가 그의 위에 있더라
40. 孩子漸漸長大，强健起來，充滿智慧，又有神的恩在他身上。
41 Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
41 그의 부모가 해마다 유월절이 되면 예루살렘으로 가더니
41. 每年到逾越節，他父母就上耶路撒冷去。
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom.
42 예수께서 열두 살 되었을 때에 그들이 이 절기의 관례를 따라 올라 갔다가
42. 當他十二歲的時候，他們按著節期的規矩上去。
43 After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.
43 그 날들을 마치고 돌아갈 때에 아이 예수는 예루살렘에 머무셨더라 그 부모는 이를 알지 못하고
43. 守滿了節期，他們回去，孩童耶穌仍舊在耶路撒冷。他的父母並不知道，
44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
44 동행 중에 있는 줄로 생각하고 하룻길을 간 후 친족과 아는 자 중에서 찾되
44. 以爲他在同行的人中間，走了一天的路程，就在親族和熟識的人中找他，
45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.
45 만나지 못하매 찾으면서 예루살렘에 돌아갔더니
45. 旣找不著，就回耶路撒冷去找他。
46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
46 사흘 후에 성전에서 만난즉 그가 선생들 중에 앉으사 그들에게 듣기도 하시며 묻기도 하시니
46. 過了三天，就遇見他在殿裏，坐在敎師中間，一面聽，一面問。
47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.
47 듣는 자가 다 그 지혜와 대답을 놀랍게 여기더라
47. 凡聽見他的，都希奇他的聰明和他的應對。
48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."
48 그의 부모가 보고 놀라며 그의 어머니는 이르되 아이야 어찌하여 우리에게 이렇게 하였느냐 보라 네 아버지와 내가 근심하여 너를 찾았노라
48. 他父母看見就很希奇。他母親對他說：我兒！爲甚麽向我們這樣行呢？看哪！你父親和我傷心來找你！
49 "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"
49 예수께서 이르시되 어찌하여 나를 찾으셨나이까 내가 내 아버지 집에 있어야 될 줄을 알지 못하셨나이까 하시니
49. 耶穌說：爲甚麽找我呢？豈不知我應當以我父的事爲念麽（或作：豈不知我應當在我父的家裏麽）？
50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
50 그 부모가 그가 하신 말씀을 깨닫지 못하더라
50. 他所說的這話，他們不明白。
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
51 예수께서 함께 내려가사 나사렛에 이르러 순종하여 받드시더라 그 어머니는 이 모든 말을 마음에 두니라
51. 他就同他們下去，回到拿撒勒，並且順從他們。他母親把這一切的事都存在心裏。
52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
52 예수는 지혜와 키가 자라가며 하나님과 사람에게 더욱 사랑스러워 가시더라
52. 耶穌的智慧和身量（或作：年紀），並神和人喜愛他的心，都一齊增長。
