1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.
1 그러므로 모든 악독과 모든 기만과 외식과 시기와 모든 비방하는 말을 버리고
1. 所以，你們旣除去一切的惡毒、（或作陰毒）詭詐，並假善、嫉妒，和一切毁謗的話，
2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
2 갓난 아기들 같이 순전하고 신령한 젖을 사모하라 이는 그로 말미암아 너희로 구원에 이르도록 자라게 하려 함이라
2. 就要愛慕那純淨的靈奶，像纔生的嬰孩愛慕奶一樣，叫你們因此漸長，以致得救。
3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
3 너희가 주의 인자하심을 맛보았으면 그리하라
3. 你們若嘗過主恩的滋味，就必如此。
4 As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him--
4 사람에게는 버린 바가 되었으나 하나님께는 택하심을 입은 보배로운 산 돌이신 예수께 나아가
4. 主乃活石，固然是被人所棄的，卻是被神所揀選、所寶貴的。
5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
5 너희도 산 돌 같이 신령한 집으로 세워지고 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드릴 거룩한 제사장이 될지니라
5. 你們來到主面前，也就像活石，被建造成爲靈宮，作聖潔的祭司，藉著耶穌基督奉獻神所悅納的靈祭。
6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
6 성경에 기록하였으되 보라 내가 택한 보배로운 모퉁잇돌을 시온에 두노니 그를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당하지 아니하리라 하였으니
6. 因爲經上說：看哪，我把所揀選、所寶貴的房角石安放在錫安；信靠他的人必不至於羞愧。
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,"
7 그러므로 믿는 너희에게는 보배이나 믿지 아니하는 자에게는 건축자들이 버린 그 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되고
7. 所以，他在你們信的人就爲寶貴，在那不信的人有話說：匠人所棄的石頭已作了房角的頭塊石頭。
8 and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.
8 또한 부딪치는 돌과 걸려 넘어지는 바위가 되었다 하였느니라 그들이 말씀을 순종하지 아니하므로 넘어지나니 이는 그들을 이렇게 정하신 것이라
8. 又說：作了絆脚的石頭，跌人的磐石。他們旣不順從，就在道理上絆跌；（或作：他們絆跌都因不順從道理）他這樣絆跌也是豫定的。
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
9 그러나 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요 거룩한 나라요 그의 소유가 된 백성이니 이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러내어 그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 이의 아름다운 덕을 선포하게 하려 하심이라
9. 惟有你們是被揀選的族類，是有君尊的祭司，是聖潔的國度，是屬神的子民，要叫你們宣揚那召你們出黑暗入奇光明者的美德。
10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
10 너희가 전에는 백성이 아니더니 이제는 하나님의 백성이요 전에는 긍휼을 얻지 못하였더니 이제는 긍휼을 얻은 자니라
10. 你們從前算不得子民，現在卻作了神的子民；從前未曾蒙憐恤，現在卻蒙了憐恤。
11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
11 사랑하는 자들아 거류민과 나그네 같은 너희를 권하노니 영혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육체의 정욕을 제어하라
11. 親愛的弟兄阿，你們是客旅，是寄居的。我勸你們要禁戒肉體的私慾；這私慾是與靈魂爭戰的。
12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
12 너희가 이방인 중에서 행실을 선하게 가져 너희를 악행한다고 비방하는 자들로 하여금 너희 선한 일을 보고 오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라
12. 你們在外邦人中，應當品行端正，叫那些毁謗你們是作惡的，因看見你們的好行爲，便在鑒察（或作：眷顧）的子歸榮耀給神。
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,
13 인간의 모든 제도를 주를 위하여 순종하되 혹은 위에 있는 왕이나
13. 你們爲主的緣故，要順服人的一切制度，或是在上的君王，
14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
14 혹은 그가 악행하는 자를 징벌하고 선행하는 자를 포상하기 위하여 그의 보낸 총독에게 하라
14. 或是君王所派罰惡賞善的臣宰。
15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
15 곧 선행으로 어리석은 사람들의 무식한 말을 막으시는 것이라
15. 因爲神的旨意原是要你們行善，可以堵住那糊塗無知人的口。
16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
16 너희는 자유가 있으나 그 자유로 악을 가리는 데 쓰지 말고 오직 하나님의 종과 같이 하라
16. 你們雖是自由的，卻不可藉著自由遮蓋惡毒，（或作：陰毒）總要作神的僕人。
17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
17 뭇 사람을 공경하며 형제를 사랑하며 하나님을 두려워하며 왕을 존대하라
17. 務要尊敬衆人，親愛敎中的弟兄，敬畏神，尊敬君王。
18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
18 사환들아 범사에 두려워함으로 주인들에게 순종하되 선하고 관용하는 자들에게만 아니라 또한 까다로운 자들에게도 그리하라
18. 你們作僕人的，凡事要存敬畏的心順服主人；不但順服那善良溫和的，就是那乖僻的也要順服。
19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.
19 부당하게 고난을 받아도 하나님을 생각함으로 슬픔을 참으면 이는 아름다우나
19. 倘若人爲叫良心對得住神，就忍受冤屈的苦楚，這是可喜愛的。
20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.
20 죄가 있어 매를 맞고 참으면 무슨 칭찬이 있으리요 그러나 선을 행함으로 고난을 받고 참으면 이는 하나님 앞에 아름다우니라
20. 你們若因犯罪受責打，能忍耐，有甚麽可誇的呢？但你們若因行善受苦，能忍耐，這在神看是可喜愛的。
21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
21 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라
21. 你們蒙召原是爲此；因基督也爲你們受過苦，給你們留下榜樣，叫你們跟隨他的脚蹤行。
22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
22 그는 죄를 범하지 아니하시고 그 입에 거짓도 없으시며
22. 他並沒有犯罪，口裏也沒有詭詐。
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
23 욕을 당하시되 맞대어 욕하지 아니하시고 고난을 받으시되 위협하지 아니하시고 오직 공의로 심판하시는 이에게 부탁하시며
23. 他被罵不還口；受害不說威嚇的話，只將自己交託那按公義審判人的主。
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
24 친히 나무에 달려 그 몸으로 우리 죄를 담당하셨으니 이는 우리로 죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살게 하려 하심이라 그가 채찍에 맞음으로 너희는 나음을 얻었나니
24. 他被掛在木頭上，親身擔當了我們的罪，使我們旣然在罪上死，就得以在義上活。因他受的鞭傷，你們便得了醫。
25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
25 너희가 전에는 양과 같이 길을 잃었더니 이제는 너희 영혼의 목자와 감독 되신 이에게 돌아왔느니라
25. 你們從前好像迷路的羊，如今卻歸到你們靈魂的牧人監督了。
