1 Do you not know, brothers--for I am speaking to men who know the law--that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives?
1 형제들아 내가 법 아는 자들에게 말하노니 너희는 그 법이 사람이 살 동안만 그를 주관하는 줄 알지 못하느냐
1. 弟兄們，我現在對明白律法的人說，你們豈不曉得律法管人是在活著的時候麽？
2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.
2 남편 있는 여인이 그 남편 생전에는 법으로 그에게 매인 바 되나 만일 그 남편이 죽으면 남편의 법에서 벗어나느니라
2. 就如女人有了丈夫，丈夫還活著，就被律法約束；丈夫若死了，就脫離了丈夫的律法。
3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.
3 그러므로 만일 그 남편 생전에 다른 남자에게 가면 음녀라 그러나 만일 남편이 죽으면 그 법에서 자유롭게 되나니 다른 남자에게 갈지라도 음녀가 되지 아니하느니라
3. 所以丈夫活著，他若歸於別人，便叫淫婦；丈夫若死了，他就脫離了丈夫的律法，雖然歸於別人，也不是淫婦。
4 So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
4 그러므로 내 형제들아 너희도 그리스도의 몸으로 말미암아 율법에 대하여 죽임을 당하였으니 이른 다른 이 곧 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나신 이에게 가서 우리가 하나님을 위하여 열매를 맺게 하려 함이라
4. 我的弟兄們，這樣說來，你們藉著基督的身體，在律法上也是死了，叫你們歸於別人，就是歸於那從死裏復活的叫我們結果子給神。
5 For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death.
5 우리가 육신에 있을 때에는 율법으로 말미암는 죄의 정욕이 우리 지체 중에 역사하여 우리로 사망을 위하여 열매를 맺게 하였더니
5. 因爲我們屬肉體的時候，那因律法而生的惡慾就在我們肢體中發動，以致結成死亡的果子。
6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
6 이제는 우리가 얽매였던 것에 대하여 죽었으므로 율법에서 벗어났으니 이러므로 우리가 영의 새로운 것으로 섬길 것이요 율법 조문의 묵은 것으로 아니할지니라
6. 但我們旣然在捆我們的律法上死了，現今就脫離了律法，叫我們服事主，要按著心靈（心靈：或作聖靈）的新樣不按著儀文的舊樣。
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."
7 그런즉 우리가 무슨 말을 하리요 율법이 죄냐 그럴 수 없느니라 율법으로 말미암지 않고는 내가 죄를 알지 못하였으니 곧 율법이 탐내지 말라 하지 아니하였더라면 내가 탐심을 알지 못하였으리라
7. 這樣，我們可說甚麽呢？律法是罪麽？斷乎不是！只是非因律法，我就不知何爲罪。非律法說不可起貪心，我就知何爲貪心。
8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead.
8 그러나 죄가 기회를 타서 계명으로 말미암아 내 속에서 온갖 탐심을 이루었나니 이는 율법이 없으면 죄가 죽은 것임이라
8. 然而罪趁著機會，就藉著誡命叫諸般的貪心在我裏頭發動；因爲沒有律法，罪是死的。
9 Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.
9 전에 율법을 깨닫지 못했을 때에는 내가 살았더니 계명이 이르매 죄는 살아나고 나는 죽었도다
9. 我以前沒有律法是活著的；但是誡命來到，罪又活了，我就死了。
10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.
10 생명에 이르게 할 그 계명이 내게 대하여 도리어 사망에 이르게 하는 것이 되었도다
10. 那本來叫人活的誡命，反倒叫我死；
11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.
11 죄가 기회를 타서 계명으로 말미암아 나를 속이고 그것으로 나를 죽였는지라
11. 因爲罪趁著機會，就藉著誡命引誘我，並且殺了我。
12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.
12 이로 보건대 율법은 거룩하고 계명도 거룩하고 의로우며 선하도다
12. 這樣看來，律法是聖潔的，誡命也是聖潔、公義、良善的。
13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
13 그런즉 선한 것이 내게 사망이 되었느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 오직 죄가 죄로 드러나기 위하여 선한 그것으로 말미암아 나를 죽게 만들었으니 이는 계명으로 말미암아 죄로 심히 죄 되게 하려 함이라
13. 旣然如此，那良善的是叫我死麽？斷乎不是！叫我死的乃是罪。但罪藉著那良善的叫我死，就顯出眞是罪，叫罪著誡命更顯出是惡極了。
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
14 우리가 율법은 신령한 줄 알거니와 나는 육신에 속하여 죄 아래에 팔렸도다
14. 我們原曉得律法是屬乎靈的，但我是屬乎肉體的，是已經賣給罪了。
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
15 내가 행하는 것을 내가 알지 못하노니 곧 내가 원하는 것은 행하지 아니하고 도리어 미워하는 것을 행함이라
15. 因爲我所作的，我自己不明白；我所願意的，我並不作；我所恨惡的，我倒去作。
16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
16 만일 내가 원하지 아니하는 그것을 행하면 내가 이로써 율법이 선한 것을 시인하노니
16. 若我所作的，是我所不願意的，我就應承律法是善的。
17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
17 이제는 그것을 행하는 자가 내가 아니요 내 속에 거하는 죄니라
17. 旣是這樣，就不是我作的，乃是住在我裏頭的罪作的。
18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
18 내 속 곧 내 육신에 선한 것이 거하지 아니하는 줄을 아노니 원함은 내게 있으나 선을 행하는 것은 없노라
18. 我也知道在我裏頭，就是我肉體之中，沒有良善。因爲，立志爲善由得我，只是行出來由不得我。
19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing.
19 내가 원하는 바 선은 행하지 아니하고 도리어 원하지 아니하는 바 악을 행하는도다
19. 故此，我所願意的善，我反不作；我所不願意的惡，我倒去作。
20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
20 만일 내가 원하지 아니하는 그것을 하면 이를 행하는 자는 내가 아니요 내 속에 거하는 죄니라
20. 若我去作所不願意作的，就不是我作的，乃是住在我裏頭的罪作的。
21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
21 그러므로 내가 한 법을 깨달았노니 곧 선을 행하기 원하는 나에게 악이 함께 있는 것이로다
21. 我覺得有個律，就是我願意爲善的時候，便有惡與我同在。
22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law;
22 내 속사람으로는 하나님의 법을 즐거워하되
22. 因爲按著我裏面的意思（原文是人），我是喜歡神的律；
23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.
23 내 지체 속에서 한 다른 법이 내 마음의 법과 싸워 내 지체 속에 있는 죄의 법으로 나를 사로잡는 것을 보는도다
23. 但我覺得肢體中另有個律和我心中的律交戰，把我擄去，叫我附從那肢體中犯罪的律。
24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
24 오호라 나는 곤고한 사람이로다 이 사망의 몸에서 누가 나를 건져내랴
24. 我眞是苦阿！誰能救我脫離這取死的身體呢？
25 Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
25 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님께 감사하리로다 그런즉 내 자신이 마음으로는 하나님의 법을 육신으로는 죄의 법을 섬기노라
25. 感謝神，靠著我們的主耶穌基督就能脫離了。這樣看來，我以內心順服神的律，我肉體卻順服罪的律了。
