1 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
1 그러므로 내가 말하노니 하나님이 자기 백성을 버리셨느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 나도 이스라엘인이요 아브라함의 씨에서 난 자요 베냐민 지파라
1. 我且說，神棄絶了他的百姓麽？斷乎沒有！因爲我也是以色列人，亞伯拉罕的後裔，屬便雅憫支派的。
2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah--how he appealed to God against Israel:
2 하나님이 그 미리 아신 자기 백성을 버리지 아니 하셨나니 너희가 성경이 엘리야를 가리켜 말한 것을 알지 못하느냐 그가 이스라엘을 하나님께 고발하되
2. 神並沒有棄絶他豫先所知道的百姓。你們豈不曉得經上論到以利亞是怎麽說的呢？他在神面前怎樣控告以色列人：
3 "Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me"?
3 주여 그들이 주의 선지자들을 죽였으며 주의 제단들을 헐어버렸고 나만 남았는데 내 목숨도 찾나이다 하니
3. 主阿，他們殺了你的先知，拆了你的祭壇，只剩下我一個人，他們還要尋索我的命。
4 And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."
4 그에게 하신 대답이 무엇이냐 내가 나를 위하여 바알에게 무릎을 꿇지 아니한 사람 칠천 명을 남겨 두었다 하셨으니
4. 神的回話是怎麽說的呢？他說：我爲自己留下七千人，是未曾向巴力屈膝的。
5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
5 그런즉 이와 같이 지금도 은혜로 택하심을 따라 남은 자가 있느니라
5. 如今也是這樣，照著揀選的恩典，還有所留的餘數。
6 And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
6 만일 은혜로 된 것이면 행위로 말미암지 않음이니 그렇지 않으면 은혜가 은혜되지 못하느니라
6. 旣是出於恩典，就不在乎行爲；不然，恩典就不是恩典了。
7 What then? What Israel sought so earnestly it did not obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened,
7 그런즉 어떠하냐 이스라엘이 구하는 그것을 얻지 못하고 오직 택하심을 입은 자가 얻었고 그 남은 자들은 우둔하여졌느니라
7. 這是怎麽樣呢？以色列人所求的，他們沒有得著，惟有蒙揀選的人得著了；其餘的就成了頑梗不化的。
8 as it is written: "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes so that they could not see and ears so that they could not hear, to this very day."
8 기록된 바 하나님이 오늘까지 그들에게 혼미한 심령과 보지 못할 눈과 듣지 못할 귀를 주셨다 함과 같으니라
8. 如經上所記：神給他們昏迷的心，眼睛不能看見，耳朵不能聽見，直到今日。
9 And David says: "May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
9 또 다윗이 이르되 그들의 밥상이 올무와 덫과 거치는 것과 보응이 되게 하시옵고
9. 大衛也說：願他們的筵席變爲網羅，變爲機檻，變爲絆脚石，作他們的報應。
10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever."
10 그들의 눈은 흐려 보지 못하고 그들의 등은 항상 굽게 하옵소서 하였느니라
10. 願他們的眼睛昏矇，不得看見；願你時常彎下他們的腰。
11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.
11 그러므로 내가 말하노니 그들이 넘어지기까지 실족하였느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 그들이 넘어짐으로 구원이 이방인에게 이르러 이스라엘로 시기나게 함이니라
11. 我且說，他們失脚是要他們跌倒麽？斷乎不是！反倒因他們的過失，救恩便臨到外邦人，要激動他們發憤。
12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!
12 그들의 넘어짐이 세상의 풍성함이 되며 그들의 실패가 이방인의 풍성함이 되거든 하물며 그들의 충만함이리요
12. 若他們的過失，爲天下的富足，他們的缺乏，爲外邦人的富足；何況他們的豐滿呢？
13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I make much of my ministry
13 내가 이방인인 너희에게 말하노라 내가 이방인의 사도인 만큼 내 직분을 영광스럽게 여기노니
13. 我對你們外邦人說這話；因我是外邦人的使徒，所以敬重（原文作：榮耀）我的職分，
14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.
14 이는 혹 내 골육을 아무쪼록 시기하게 하여 그들 중에서 얼마를 구원하려 함이라
14. 或者可以激動我骨肉之親發憤，好救他們一些人。
15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
15 그들을 버리는 것이 세상의 화목이 되거든 그 받아들이는 것이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나는 것이 아니면 무엇이리요
15. 若他們被丢棄，天下就得與神和好；他們被收納，豈不是死而復生麽？
16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
16 제사하는 처음 익은 곡식 가루가 거룩한즉 떡덩이도 그러하고 뿌리가 거룩한즉 가지도 그러하니라
16. 所獻的新麵若是聖潔，全團也就聖潔了；樹根若是聖潔，樹枝也就聖潔了。
17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,
17 또한 가지 얼마가 꺾이었는데 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자가 되었은즉
17. 若有幾根枝子被折下來，你這野橄欖得接在其中，一同得著橄欖根的肥汁，
18 do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.
18 그 가지들을 향하여 자랑하지 말라 자랑할지라도 네가 뿌리를 보전하는 것이 아니요 뿌리가 너를 보전하는 것이니라
18. 你就不可向舊枝子誇口；若是誇口，當知道不是你托著根，乃是根托著你。
19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."
19 그러면 네 말이 가지들이 꺾인 것은 나로 접붙임을 받게 하려 함이라 하리니
19. 你若說，那枝子被折下來是特爲叫我接上。
20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
20 옳도다 그들은 믿지 아니하므로 꺾이고 너는 믿으므로 섰느니라 높은 마음을 품지 말고 도리어 두려워하라
20. 不錯！他們因爲不信，所以被折下來；你因爲信，所以立得住；你不可自高，反要懼怕。
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
21 하나님이 원 가지들도 아끼지 아니하셨은즉 너도 아끼지 아니하시리라
21. 神旣不愛惜原來的枝子，也必不愛惜你。
22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.
22 그러므로 하나님의 인자하심과 준엄하심을 보라 넘어지는 자들에게는 준엄하심이 있으니 너희가 만일 하나님의 인자하심에 머물러 있으면 그 인자가 너희에게 있으리라 그렇지 않으면 너도 찍히는 바 되리라
22. 可見神的恩慈和嚴厲，向那跌倒的人是嚴厲的，向你是有恩慈的；只要你長久在他的恩慈裏，不然，你也要被砍來。
23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
23 그들도 믿지 아니하는 데 머무르지 아니하면 접붙임을 받으리니 이는 그들을 접붙이실 능력이 하나님께 있음이라
23. 而且他們若不是長久不信，仍要被接上，因爲神能彀把他們從新接上。
24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!
24 네가 원 돌감람나무에서 찍힘을 받고 본성을 거슬러 좋은 감람나무에 접붙임을 받았으니 원 가지인 이 사람들이야 얼마나 더 자기 감람나무에 접붙이심을 받으랴
24. 你是從那天生的野橄欖上砍下來的，尙且逆著性得接在好橄欖上，何況這本樹的枝子，要接在本樹上呢！
25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
25 형제들아 너희가 스스로 지혜 있다 하면서 이 신비를 너희가 모르기를 내가 원하지 아니하노니 이 신비는 이방인의 충만한 수가 들어오기까지 이스라엘의 더러는 우둔하게 된 것이라
25. 弟兄們，我不願意你們不知道這奧袐（恐怕你們自以爲聰明），就是以色列人有幾分是硬心的，等到外邦人的數添滿了，
26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
26 그리하여 온 이스라엘이 구원을 받으리라 기록된 바 구원자가 시온에서 오사 야곱에게서 경건하지 않은 것을 돌이키시겠고
26. 於是以色列全家都要得救。如經上所記：必有一位救主從錫安出來，要消除雅各家的一切罪惡；
27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."
27 내가 그들의 죄를 없이 할 때에 그들에게 이루어질 내 언약이 이것이라 함과 같으니라
27. 又說：我除去他們罪的時候，這就是我與他們所立的約。
28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,
28 복음으로 하면 그들이 너희로 말미암아 원수 된 자요 택하심으로 하면 조상들로 말미암아 사랑을 입은 자라
28. 就著福音說，他們爲你們的緣故是仇敵；就著揀選說，他們爲列祖的緣故是蒙愛的。
29 for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.
29 하나님의 은사와 부르심에는 후회하심이 없느니라
29. 因爲神的恩賜和選召是沒有後悔的。
30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience,
30 너희가 전에는 하나님께 순종하지 아니하더니 이스라엘이 순종하지 아니함으로 이제 긍휼을 입었는지라
30. 你們從前不順服神，如今因他們的不順服，你們倒蒙了憐恤。
31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God's mercy to you.
31 이와 같이 이 사람들이 순종하지 아니하니 이는 너희에게 베푸시는 긍휼로 이제 그들도 긍휼을 얻게 하려 하심이라
31. 這樣，他們也是不順服，叫他們因著施給你們的憐恤，現在也就蒙憐恤。
32 For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
32 하나님이 모든 사람을 순종하지 아니하는 가운데 가두어 두심은 모든 사람에게 긍휼을 베풀려 하심이로다
32. 因爲神將衆人都圈在不順服之中，特意要憐恤衆人。
33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
33 깊도다 하나님의 지혜와 지식의 풍성함이여, 그의 판단은 헤아리지 못할 것이며 그의 길은 찾지 못할 것이로다
33. 深哉，神豐富的智慧和知識！他的判斷何其難測！他的蹤跡何其難尋！
34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"
34 누가 주의 마음을 알았느냐 누가 그의 모사가 되었느냐
34. 誰知道主的心？誰作過他的謀士呢？
35 "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?"
35 누가 주께 먼저 드려서 갚으심을 받겠느냐
35. 誰是先給了他，使他後來償還呢？
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
36 이는 만물이 주에게서 나오고 주로 말미암아 주에게로 돌아감이라 그에게 영광이 세세에 있을지어다 아멘
36. 因爲萬有都是本於他，倚靠他，歸於他。願榮耀歸給他，直到永遠。阿們！
